Description
The word orchid is for many a signal of something exotic and mystical. Species names such as Lady’s Slipper Orchid, Pyramidal Orchid and Ghost Orchid seem taken from another world. However, you don’t have to travel far to find them, as they occur on Öland. Of the 55 species, subspecies and varieties that occur in Sweden, 36 can be found on Öland.
In Orchids of Öland Henrik Karlsson and Emma Tinnert present all of Öland’s orchids in accessible texts together with atmospheric photos and detailed illustrations.
Öland’s orchids describes the various environments that host orchids, and explains why they occur there. We also get to know when they flower, how they are structured, and the ways that orchids are pollinated.
